Focus on Education

athensFor the month of March, the editors would like to focus on identifying the educational resources in Southwest Raleigh. There are opportunities at all levels, pre-school, K-12, community college, and higher education. Then, there are the resources like our libraries, the JT Locke Resource Center, and Project Enlightenment that compliment the core institutions.

We’ve started to build out the educational assets for South West Raleigh, but we’re coming up short. You probably know of a resource, a school, or someone involved in education. Which means you can help. We’ve developed a template to help collect this information, and we need your expertise.

Can you use our simple 3-step contribution process to help gather all the educational assets in Southwest Raleigh? Together, we can highlight why Raleigh’s Creative District has the brightest future to educate the next generation and beyond.

About Jason Hibbets

I'm a neighborhood advocate. I started off by getting involved in the Pleasant Ridge & Ramsgate Community Watch program and helped unite other neighborhoods in my community by forming the Lineberry Alliance. I continue work with neighborhood leaders in the District D Neighborhood Alliance (DDNA) and serve as planning co-chair for CityCamp Raleigh. I've completed Raleigh Neighborhood College (Spring 2005) and Leadership North Carolina (May 2007). In 2009, I lead a group of volunteers to review Raleigh's 2030 Comprehensive Plan. I served as chair of Raleigh's South West Citizen Advisory Council (SWCAC) from April 2010-2012.
