2011 N.C. State Fair theme: Love a Fair!

NC State Fair logo

Update (10/14/11) – If you’re looking for the latest on this year’s fair, be sure to check out: State Fair—Love A Fair with New Rides, Food, and Entertainment.

Each year, we are tasked with creating a theme and logo for the coming State Fair. This is done in conjunction with our advertising agency. It’s not easy to encapsulate in a few words the excitement, flavors, colors, people and traditions that are part of the Fair. It’s a process that takes several weeks, but we love this creative time and how it makes us think about the many things that make the State Fair special.

We came up with a few serious contenders for this year’s theme, but decided to recycle one from about 30 years ago. We really LOVE this theme, and after more than 1 million people came to the Fair last year, we think a lot of you will agree.

Check out this video announcement:

Are you a long-time North Carolinian? Do you remember when the “Love a Fair” theme was used before? We’d love to see anything that might have this theme on it.

We’d also love to hear what you love about the Fair, so send us a comment on Facebook or Twitter!

About N.C. State Fair

There are many reasons people from across North Carolina make an annual trip to the N.C. State Fair. Squealing, speed-racing pigs. Giant, blue-ribbon pumpkins. Old-fashioned Ferris wheel rides. And, of course, deep-fried food on a stick. Beyond the bright lights of the Midway, however, the N.C. State Fair has focused on celebrating our state’s agricultural heritage since 1853. Our mission is to showcase and promote the state’s agriculture, agribusiness, arts, crafts and culture through the annual agricultural fair, and to be a meeting and marketplace for the community on a year-round basis. The southwest Raleigh location, at the intersection of Blue Ridge Road and Hillsborough Street, has been the home of the State Fairgrounds since 1928. We host more than 600 events each year, including the weekly Raleigh Flea Market. Learn more at ncstatefair.org.
