Come view the Geminid Meteor Shower of 2017!

Join staff and volunteers from the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, Chapel Hill Astronomical and Observational Society (CHAOS) and Raleigh Astronomy Club (RAC) for a free skywatching program at Dorothea Dix Park!

Bring a blanket, sleeping bag or reclining chair to watch for Geminid Meteors to streak across the sky! You won’t even need telescopes to see these burning bits of space rocks!

Telescopes will be set up for you to take a closer look at star clusters, galaxies and nebulae. We’ll also have sky tours and star storytelling!

Visual Art Exchange is hosting a Holiday Happy Hour to spread some holiday cheer in support of the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle! The Holiday Happy Hour will take place at Trophy on Maywood and include a canned food drive also also a special viewing of selected short-films by Vittles Films, exploring how the food we seek and the way we eat it informs our identity, culture, and community and examines the contemporary social issues in the South and beyond. Suggested canned donations include: canned fruits/ veggies/beans; whole grains (oatmeal, cereal, granola); canned salmon, tuna, chicken, nuts, and seeds. Films showcased include Grace’s One and Only Casseroni and Cook School.

In honor of this legacy, the City of Raleigh Museum will offer a one hour, one mile walking tours every Saturday at 2 p.m. Tours will highlight the people, places, architecture, and political movements that make up more than 200 years of Raleigh’s history. Tickets can be purchased at the museum on the day of the tour and space is limited. Tours are subject to cancellation due to extreme weather.
