Tournées Film Festival is a program of the FACE Foundation, in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, which aims to bring French cinema to American college and university campuses. Showcasing established and emerging talents, the festival reflects the diversity and the richness of French cinema through various genres — fiction, documentary, animation and repertory films — giving participants the opportunity to expand their programming and for audiences to experience French cinema through a wider lens.

NC State University will host the film festival from February 1-March 1, 2018 at the Campus Cinema at Witherspoon Student Center and the Hunt Library auditorium. All films will be free and open to the public.

The festival will feature the following films:

  • Avril et le monde truqué / April and the Extraordinary World (103 min): Thursday, February 1 at the Campus Cinema at Witherspoon Student Center
  • La Noire de… / Black Girl (59 min + 20 min short): Thursday, February 8 at the Campus Cinema at Witherspoon Student Center
  • Ma vie de courgette / My Life as a Zucchini (68 min): Monday, February 12 at the Hunt Library Auditorium
  • Frantz (113 min): Thursday, February 15 at the Campus Cinema at Witherspoon Student Center
  • Fatima (79 min): Thursday, February 22 at the Campus Cinema at Witherspoon Student Center
  • Mustang (97 min): Thursday, March 1 at the Campus Cinema at Witherspoon Student Center

The heart of Raleigh’s history is centered on “North Carolina’s Main Street” also known as Fayetteville Street. This half-mile long street has a rich and colorful past, whose buildings and stories have helped shape the Raleigh we know today. In honor of this legacy, the City of Raleigh Museum will offer a one hour, one mile walking tours every Saturday at 2 p.m. Tours will highlight the people, places, architecture, and political movements that make up more than 200 years of Raleigh’s history. Tickets can be purchased at the museum on the day of the tour and space is limited. Tours are subject to cancellation due to extreme weather.

Join NCSU Libraries for the second Raiders of the Lost Arcade inclusive gaming event to play a curated selection of games for platforms including Steam, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Explore different ways that video games can illustrate diverse narratives, aspirations, and life experiences.  Play some of the newest games in the collection, including Papo & Yo, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, and Never Alone (Kisima Inŋitchuŋa).  Each of these games includes social justice or queer perspectives in their storylines, while offering a compelling and immersive gameplay experience. The event will draw on the narratives of these games to talk about diverse representation, including resisting character tropes and stereotypes about the gaming community.

Participants will be invited to rotate through gaming stations and to explore how NCSU Libraries’ resources can support leisure gaming, video game design, and promote critical discourse for members of the gaming community.  Gamers of all interests and skill levels are encouraged to join in the fun!

If you live in Raleigh, you automatically are a member of a Citizens Advisory Council. The City of Raleigh has 19 CACs, each representing a different geographic region of the city.

Each CAC elects its own officers and decides its own activities and priorities. All CAC meetings are open to everyone; however, you can vote only at meetings of the CAC where you reside. You can attend as an individual or you can represent your neighborhood-based organization at your CAC meetings.

CACs are nonpartisan. CACs are the only advisory boards to the City Council that are not appointed by the Council.
