Join us for the 4th Annual Socks and Undie 5K Rundie benefiting Note in the Pocket on April 22, 2017 in beautiful Dorothea Dix park in downtown Raleigh, NC. Costumes are encouraged! The 5K is timed and prizes are awarded to male & female overall winners as well as the winner for each age group.  Children 12 and under may register for our 1/2 K Fun Rundie! Parents may accompany their child on the 1/2 K. Prizes are awarded for first male and female finisher of the 1/2 K Fun Rundie as well as prizes for best costume.

Note in the Pocket, a local non-profit that provides clothing to the impoverished and homeless in Wake County. Donations of new bags of socks and underwear will be collected at the race. Although these items are not required, they will be greatly appreciated. Please help us raise more money by becoming a fundraiser or creating a fundraising team!

The March for Science – Raleigh is dedicated to promoting science that upholds the common good. 

As organizers of the satellite March for Science in Raleigh, North Carolina, we follow the spirit of the Mission, Principles and Goals, and Diversity Principles put forth by the organizers of the National March for Science in Washington, DC.

Like the National March organizers, we envision a long term plan of action that will extend beyond April 22nd, the day of the march. To build a movement for science that will catalyze actions for lasting impact, we believe the mission and principles must be locally-rooted and embraced by the people of North Carolina. Therefore, we have begun the process of making connections between the national principles and our home state by:

  • Reaching out to organizations already working to address issues that align with our Mission and Principles

  • Drawing attention to important science-related issues that need to be addressed in North Carolina

  • Engaging with local community members to organize around multiple interfaces between science and society

Brewgaloo, presented by Shop Local Raleigh, is the largest North Carolina craft beer festival featuring NC Beer, food trucks, live music and the best of local. Held the fourth weekend of April in Downtown Raleigh. Beer is sampled by the glass or the pour. Features something for everyone and purchases every keg tapped in an effort to support all NC brewers.

Saturday 2-10pm. By the pint or by the taste. Open to the public.

Saturday 3-5pm. Sour and Barrel Aged Beer. $25- Sampling Event. Ticketed. Tickets available in Limited QTY.

After last year’s successful 3-night event, Pequod Productions and Sonorous Road will be presenting a 2-night marathon reading of all 154 of Shakespeare’s sonnets, performed by actors and non-actors from all over the triangle.

Night One will consist of the first half of the Bard’s sonnets (#1-77). Followed by the remainder on Night Two.

Each night will be split into 3 acts (7:00, 8:00, and 9:00), a 10-minute intermission between each.

If you would like to be a sonneteer (reader), please email: pequod.productions.nc@gmail.com
and let us know your preferred sonnet. Also, let us know if you’re willing to be a stand-by reader, in case of a no-show.

If you live in Raleigh, you automatically are a member of a Citizens Advisory Council. The City of Raleigh has 19 CACs, each representing a different geographic region of the city.

Each CAC elects its own officers and decides its own activities and priorities. All CAC meetings are open to everyone; however, you can vote only at meetings of the CAC where you reside. You can attend as an individual or you can represent your neighborhood-based organization at your CAC meetings.

CACs are nonpartisan. CACs are the only advisory boards to the City Council that are not appointed by the Council.

Come to the pottery studio at Pullen and support your child as you both make original ornamental and functional works in clay. Learn a little about clay while you learn a little about your child and the creative process! Projects will be glazed and fired after the class for pickup at a later date.
