The Unconference:
A loosely structured conference emphasizing the informal exchange of information and ideas between participants, rather than following a conventionally structured program of events. At this unconference, attendees will create sessions on the spot, making for an energizing and freewheeling exchange.

Main Event: Share your Imagination, your Ideas, your Expertise

Come out and enjoy a fun, fast, participant-driven experience where you are in the driver’s seat. Pitch your idea to the other attendees and if your topic is chosen you will lead your own session among your peers! Alternatively, you can attend as an active audience member, voting on the sessions you want to attend and participating in other attendee’s sessions. Additionally, you can get connected locally with exhibitors from various City of Raleigh departments.

Aly is a design entrepreneur specializing in invention development. He has launched products for some of the most exciting consumer brands and has garnered more than 24 patents. Aly and his wife, Beth, have pioneered inventive culture creation locally as the creators of SPARKcon, Gamila, and other innovative ventures. SPARKcon is the nation’s largest open-source creative festival, attracting 75,000 attendees annually. Gamila is a collection of sustainable single-serve coffee and tea tools, which was acquired by Seventh Generation in 2014. Aly and Beth are also the owners of the Designbox, where their engineering and artistic skills marry in the creation of products, brands, and experiences for their clients globally. Aly’s latest effort, Lyf Company, creates delightful products including a line of bags and customized shoes. Lyf is built on a unique circular-economy model, combining 3D printing, on-board electronics, cradle-to-cradle principles and decentralized manufacturing. By collaborating with experts across diverse disciplines, Aly fashions revolutionary new products, technologies, and methodologies. His collaborations have been nominated for a Grammy, and his work exhibited in the Louvre. He is an AIGA Fellow and an Eisenhower Fellow, recognized for his creative leadership and ability to drive tangible change.
