Raleigh just joined the list of over 30 cities from around the entire globe participating in the Creative Mornings program. A monthly lecture series focused on the creative industries, Creative Mornings has chapters in places such as New York City, LA, Singapore, Barcelona, Paris, Sydney, Amsterdam, Berlin, Chicago, and many other cutting edge international locations. I am so excited that North Carolina is represented with the newest chapter that kicked off last month in downtown Raleigh.

Says Raleigh organizer Matt Tomasulo “Creative Mornings can act as a catalyst to help catapult the Raleigh creative community into the greater national and international conversation around design, entrepreneurism, and creativity. The Creative Mornings international brand and connectivity creates a portal of opportunity for people all over the world to discover the talent that we have locally here in the Triangle.”

This free monthly breakfast lecture series will focus on local North Carolina leaders and innovators from within various design and creative industries. The inaugural meeting took place on September 14 and was led by celebrated product and engineering director and creative collaborator Aly Khalifa who spoke to a full house at CAM Raleigh in the Warehouse district.

The October Creative Mornings lecture will be held on Friday, October 12 and will be led by bad ass video game developer Wyeth Johnson; Art Director at the successful Cary based Epic Games.  (Full disclosure, I’d be interested in this talk even if I wasn’t married to this month’s awesome lecturer.)

Organizer Tomosaulo goes on to say “The fact that the event is not focused on one particular industry allows for so many different circles to overlap, allowing for people to discover and interact with speakers and attendees from completely different industries that they might not have ever known about.”

Creative Mornings events are free and open to the public and are held at CAM Raleigh (the Contemporary Art Museum) downtown Raleigh at 409 West Martin Street. Free coffee and breakfast treats are also provided by Counter Culture Coffee and Crumb Bakery.

Note, you have to RSVP online to attend as space is limited and the list fills up fast. The October event sign up will be open online starting Monday, October 8 at 11am, so make sure to snag your spot to this exciting and innovative new lecture series for creative types.

And don’t forget to like and follow the Creative Mornings Raleigh crew on Facebook or Twitter to stay up-to-date on upcoming lectures, dates, sign-ups, etc.
