Rebus Works Chickens Debut During Tour D’Coop

rw_chicken_artRebus Works is announcing a special edition of The Saturday Market for Saturday, May 18. We are extending our hours and will be open from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm—and we are expecting a large crowd!

What’s the occasion? The chickens of Rebus are going to be a featured coop on this year’s Tour d’Coop, a charity garden and coop tour (we’re coop #20). The tour benefits Urban Ministries of Wake County, which touches the lives of more than 23,000 diverse clients every year. Urban Ministries is a non-profit human service organization that alleviates the effects of poverty in Wake County by meeting people’s basic needs for food, shelte,r and healthcare, providing services that promote self-sufficiency and building awareness of the issues of poverty within the larger community by leveraging financial support with volunteers and in-kind contributions.

Some of the coops get upwards of 1000 visitors during the day, so we are expecting a lot of new “peeps” at our location. We will have farmers and artists on hand to greae them with a mix of jewelry, clothing, art, foodstuffs, produce, flowers, plants, vintage goods, etc! It is the same weekend as Artsplosure, so TONS of people will be already downtown, and we have an nice location right on the Boylan Street Bridge, next to a historic neighborhood.

We will have three food trucks–Blue Sky Dining, Chick-n- Que, and Virgil’s Jamaica Food Truck, with plenty of cold beer. Raleigh Brewing Company’s “Uncommon Curiosity,” Fullsteam’s “Working Man” and Green Man’s American Pale ale will be on tap, all perfect for a warm late spring day.

Our eclectic selection of various exotic soft drinks will also be on hand to wash down your tasty food truck lunch! This will be a great place to beat the crowds for a bite before you check out Artsplosure, and  we are right on the way. We won’t tell the chickens you ate their cousins for lunch, it will be our little secret.

We really hope a lot of you can come out and see what goes on here, at the Saturday Market, and hopefully make it a regular spot for your weekend routine. There is always something new, fun, and off-the-beaten path here. Plus, we have plenty of great iced coffee, beer, Locopops AND seating! Let’s get to know each other.

The Saturday Market

Rebus Works gallery, located next to the Boylan Street Bridge, downtown Raleigh, began The Saturday Market at Rebus Works in April of 2011. The market continues weekly every Saturday and is within biking distance of surrounding communities. The idea is to combine farmers, crafters, and food trucks in one location. Although the idea is not new, it is new to Raleigh. The Saturday Market offers a unique setting where visitors can meander down path, past the chicken coop and gardens, right in the heart of downtown Raleigh.

The Saturday Market is located at 301-2 Kinsey Street, (next to the Boylan Street Bridge) Raleigh, NC and is open every Saturday from 10-1pm and will continue year round.
