Last week, Will Allen, a neighborhood leaders in Cameron Village, was highlighted by the City of Raleigh in the article, Will Allen: Champion For Neighborhoods.
Allen recently took over as Chair of Raleigh Citizens Advisory Council (RCAC). He is currently chair of the Hillsborough CAC and continues his involvement in the Cameron Village neighborhood.
I’ve worked with Will through the District D Neighborhood Alliance and in reviewing the 2030 Comprehensive Plan over the past few years. Will is a really sharp dude, neighborhood focused, and has a really intense train collection. The set-up I saw at his home put the State Fair to shame.
Will started his neighborhood adventures by helping establish the Cameron Village Neighborhood Association, then got invovled in other organizations.
The Cameron Village Neighborhood Association was officially established in 2008 with Allen as president. Allen meanwhile began attending meetings of the Hillsborough CAC, which was then reviewing proposed changes in the city’s land-use plan. [Will Allen: Champion For Neighborhoods.]
Taking over the RCAC is the next level for Allen. “The RCAC is made up of the leaders of each of Raleigh’s 18 geographically-based Citizens Advisory Councils (CACs), which advise the Raleigh City Council on decisions relating to neighborhoods.” I attend the RCAC as Chair of the South West CAC and I’m excited that Will stepped up to the challenge.
The RCAC meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm in City Council Chambers. A broadcast of the meeting can be viewed on Raleigh Television Network (RTN).
