Several communities in Southwest Raleigh are participating in National Night Out™ (NNO), on August 2nd. National Night Out is an opportunity for communities nationwide to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention, safety awareness, and neighborhood camaradarie. National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime awareness, drug prevention awareness, & safety awareness
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

The City of Raleigh has a complete listing of neighborhoods celebrating NNO this year (that have registered). In Raleigh’s Creative District, we have the Pleasant Ridge & Ramsgate Community Watch inviting neighbors for a watermelon social and the Caraleigh Community Watch hosting a pot luck dinner. Additional details below.

7th Annual National Night Out™ Watermelon Social

The Pleasant Ridge & Ramsgate Community Watch is inviting neighbors to join them for their 7th Annual National Night Out Watermelon Social on Tuesday, August 2, 2011. It will be held from 6:30 – 9:00 pm at 2004 Sierra Drive.

Activities include a raffle, door prizes, fingerprint kits, mugshots in the jail, and of course, watermelon. The Pleasant Ridge & Ramsgate community has extended the invitation for NNO to the Lineberry Alliance. See their flyer for more details.

Special National Night Out™ Supper Gathering

The Caraleigh Community Watch is hosting a supper gathering for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2, 2011. It will be held from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at Fellowship Hall, 118 Summit Avenue.

Neighbors will be eating and enjoying fellowship together with  a pot luck meal. Attendees are asked to bring a special food item or a dessert and drink to share. Bring enough for your family plus 1 other person. The community watch will provide the paper products, serving utensils, and ice.  We will have visits from the police officers who patrol our neighborhood, and they are bringing special treats for adults and children.
