[singlepic id=335 w=320 h=240 float=right]We all know how powerful and devastating a tornado can be, as evidenced this Spring in Southwest Raleigh. The new 3D Theater at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is showing what might be, the closest look inside a tornado anyone has ever been able to share.
“Tornado Alley” documents two unprecedented missions seeking to encounter one of Earth’s most awe-inspiring events — the birth of a tornado. Filmmaker Sean Casey’s personal quest to capture this event on camera takes viewers on a breathtaking journey into the heart of the storm. A team of equally driven scientists, the VORTEX2 researchers, experience the relentless strength of nature’s elemental forces as they literally surround tornadoes and the supercell storms that form them, gathering the most comprehensive severe weather data ever collected. This science adventure reveals the beauty and the power of some of our planet’s most extreme — and least understood — weather phenomena.
The pictures show the Tornado Intercept Vehicle (TIV) 2 that is featured in the film and was on display at the museum this past weekend. If you didn’t get a chance to see the TIV2 make sure you don’t miss “Tornado Alley” playing daily until November 24th.
