Packapalooza – Saturday, 8/19
Packapalooza is an all-day block party and street festival capping off Wolfpack Welcome Week at the start of the academic year. The event has everything it takes to celebrate in NC State style, including great music, activities throughout the day, and fun entertainment for the whole family.
In 2016, over 75,000 people attended and visited 326 vendor booths, and 60 sponsoring organizations.
The Spin Doctors headline Packapalooza 2017.
Eclipse Day Celebration – Monday, 8/21
Join the NCSU Libraries and the College of Sciences to celebrate the solar eclipse!
An eclipse livestream, featuring NASA experts along the path of totality, live feeds from NASA aircraft, balloons, and the International Space Station, and views of the eclipse from around the United States, will be playing in both the D. H. Hill and James B. Hunt Jr. Libraries.
The NCSU Libraries will be participating in eclipse day activities but will not be providing eclipse glasses. The College of Sciences will be coordinating a variety of Eclipse activities on the Brickyard including safe ways to view the eclipse, such as a telescope with solar filter, free solar glasses and a pinhole camera creation station.
Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week – August 21 to 27
Indulge your palate during the Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week—a week long dining extravaganza showcasing the culinary talent in the heart of the capital city!
Participating restaurants will offer delectable, three-course prix fixe dinners for either $21 or $31 per person, depending on the venue. Some restaurants will be offering $5 and $10 lunch specials during Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week only!
Voices from our Sisters – through the end of August
Travel around the world right here in Raleigh North Carolina! Stop by the Cameron Village Regional Library throughout the month of August to tour the “Voices from our Sisters” exhibit. Featuring our five sister cities: Hull, England; Compiegne, France; Rostock, Germany; Xiangyang, China; and Nairobi, Kenya, with photographs, personal stories and text displays.
Bring the kids! Let them pick up a “passport” they can get stamped during their visit by answering questions about our sister cities.
