8th Annual Raleigh Tour de Toys ~ Dec. 16
Take part in a group bike ride of beautiful downtown Raleigh and bring some Christmas joy to families in need. All you need to bring is your bike (in working order), a new toy valued @ $15 or more to donate, your helmet, and your holiday cheer. Donated new toys will be given to families staying at The Women’s Center of Wake County.
Riders will have the choice of joining a leisurely, 6-mile ride or a longer 12-mile ride and routes will include some neighborhood streets, Raleigh Greenways, and meander past several downtown landmarks. The ride will finish back at Crankarm for a post-ride get-together. With some handcrafted Crankarm beers for the adults, and kid-friendly beverages for the little ones.
WRAL Coats for the Children ~ through Dec. 31
More than 9,000 children in Wake County need a warm coat and will not have a new toy this holiday season. Coats for the Children is WRAL’s major community campaign to support disadvantaged families. We ask our viewers to donate gently used, clean coats, hats and gloves to outfit children for winter. They are also collecting new toys to make the holidays brighter for children at the Salvation Army.
