Several items of potential interest will be covered at the next Hillsborough CAC meeting on Thursday, August 16, 7:00 PM at the Pullen Arts Center:
- We will discuss and then vote on a draft resolution to the Raleigh City Council in support of the Oberlin Cemetery’s application for historic site designation.
- Nominations for the Hillsborough CAC 2012 Neighborhood Recognition Award will be taken from the floor. One nominee, the Friends of the Oberlin Cemetery, has already been suggested. After discussion we will vote and communicate the award winner to Community Services.
- Representatives for the rezoning proposal Z-34-12 (Park Avenue & Ashe Avenue; FMW, developer) will present their case, followed by questions from members. A vote will be taken at the September 20 Hillsborough CAC meeting. A representative from the Raleigh Planning Department will be on hand to answer technical and procedural questions. - Robin Currin, representing developer Val Valentine for MP-2-2012, a request to amend the Stanhope Center Master Plan (located on Hillsborough Street west of Dixie Trail), will briefly present their case as a courtesy to Hillsborough CAC members. This case will be heard officially in the Wade CAC, and there will be no action taken by the Hillsborough CAC. Current development proposals are here.
- City of Raleigh representatives will give an overview of the City of Raleigh budget as a courtesy to Hillsborough CAC members.
- Representatives for the rezoning proposal Z-35-12 (between Oberlin Road & Daniels Street north of Cameron Village Shopping Center; Jim Anthony, developer) will present their case, followed by questions from members. A vote will be taken at the September 20 Hillsborough CAC meeting. A representative from the Raleigh Planning Department will be on hand to answer technical and procedural questions. Note: The September 20 Hillsborough CAC meeting will be held at Pullen Community Center on account of construction at Pullen Arts Center. Pullen Community Center is located between Pullen Park and the railroad tracks between the School for the Blind and Pullen Aquatic Center with access from Ashe Avenue.
