- Yates by Night: The Summer Sky – Friday, May 10, 2013 from 7:30-8:30pm at Historic Yates Mill County Park; use binoculars to observe planets, stars, and other astrological objects; $5/family; pre-registration is required
- Friday Night Sound Bites: Timeless Beauty – Friday, May 10, 2013 (6pm and 7pm) at NC Museum of Art; celebrate Mother’s Day by exploring the images of woman, mother and child, and changing fads in women’s fashion throughout history and across the globe; FREE; no reservations necessary
- Moms Rock at Marbles Kids Museum – Saturday, May 11, 2013 & Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 9am-5pm; show Mom that she’s the coolest by making her a special gift
- Arts in Powell Drive Park – Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 11am-1pm at Powell Drive Park; get creative with tie-dye, dog art, sidewalk chalk and more; $7/child or $10/family; pre-registration required
- Picnic & a Show – there’s no Mother’s Day brunch this year, but instead pack a picnic for lunch in the Rose Garden and then catch the 1pm Brementown Musicians show at Raleigh Little Theatre; tickets are $10 for kids ages 12 and under/$15 for adults and teens
- Lunch in the Gardens – grab lunch from Neomonde on Beryl Rd and head to JC Raulston Arboretum for a picnic in the gardens
