Artsplosure, the Raleigh Arts Festival, is happening in Downtown Raleigh this weekend and you won’t want to miss it. Whether you’re looking to browse shops at the art market, listen to live music, expose the kids to art, start your own street piano mini-concert, or watch a carnival-like performance, the three-day festival is packed with variety and excitement!
The festival runs Friday through Sunday at various spots around Moore Square and City Plaza. Here are several highlights of Artsplosure 2013:
- Art Market: browse over 150 shops featuring ceramics, jewelry, photography & more from national, regional and local artists; Sat (11am-7pm) and Sun (10am-5pm) around Moore Square & City Market
- Kidsplosure: kids can create art for the art garden and watch a variety of family-friendly performances on the Kidsplosure Stage; Sat & Sun (11am-6pm) in Moore Square
- Music in the Park: listen to a variety of live music on two stages in Moore Square; Sat (1pm-9:30pm) and Sun (11am-6:30pm)
- Squonk Opera’s GO Roadshow: 45-minute music and art carnival-like performance for all ages; Fri, Sat and Sun (times vary) at City Plaza, 400 block of Fayetteville Street
- Zoppé Italian Family Circus: enjoy acrobatics, equestrian and canine performances, and audience involvement; Fri, Sat and Sun (times vary) at Litchin Plaza at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts
In addition to art and music, there will be food and beer vendors around Moore Square. Artspace and Marbles Kids Museum will also be offering special programs during Artsplosure weekend.
