Your neighbors have some great ideas on the future for the South Saunders and South Wilmington corridors. In a pre-session exploring the boundary of the South Saunders and South Wilmington corridor study area, city planners worked side-by-side with citizen leaders to start the brainstorming process. I’m personally a big fan of extending Centennial Parkway east to connect into south Downtown Raleigh. Other neighborhood leaders suggested renaming South Saunders Street to Dawson-McDowell Boulevard. What ideas do you have?
There is a great opportunity to attend a visioning workshop at Carolina Pines Community Center on June 8 to share your ideas for this corridor study. Details are below. I hope you can make it out to share your thoughts.
The purpose of the visioning workshop is to gain momentum, generate ideas, and engage the public in developing a vision for the South Saunders/South Wilmington corridor area.
At the workshop, a presentation of a preliminary inventory of known issues will be followed by small-group discussions. In the small-group discussions you will help identify key issues and opportunities and help begin crafting a vision for the corridor.
Save the date, attend the workshop, and provide us feedback. If you cannot be at the workshop for the entire time, feel free to drop in and out whenever you can.
