Father’s Day is coming up on Sunday, June 16th this year. Gone are the gifts of ties, tools, and golf shirts. This year plan a fun and relaxing day with activities in the Creative District. Here are some suggestions to help you get started:
Dude Food & Brew at Whole Foods – let Dad sample some food and beers for gift inspirations; on Wed., June 12 from 5-7pm at Whole Foods on Wade Ave; FREE event; for more info visit https://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/store/event/dude-food-brew
Picnic at the Mill – pack a lunch of Dad’s favorite foods and then explore the Historic Yates Mill County Park with a corn grinding tour; tours run from 1-4pm on Sun., June 16 and fees apply
Music in the Park – pack a picnic dinner and head over to Fletcher Park for the 6pm Sunday Concert Series featuring Sandbox (interactive children’s music). Bring a lawn chair, blanket and some of Dad’s favorite fare.
Brews & a Train Ride – visit Pullen Park for great photo ops with Dad on the miniature train or carousel followed by yummy pizza and a cold beer at Trophy Brewing Company.
Breakfast & Fishing & Disc Golf – grab some breakfast and coffee to go from Flying Biscuit and head over to Lake Raleigh for some early morning fishing and disc golf.
Bike Ride & Beer – hitch up the bike trailer and take a ride with Dad on the Reedy Creek greenway followed by well-deserved beers for Dad at Raleigh Brewing Company.
Boating at the Lake – rent sunfish sailboats, kayaks, canoes and more or try paddle boarding at either Lake Johnson or Lake Wheeler.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
