When you think of Irregardless Café, you typically don’t think Hillsborough Street. This is because the café is located on West Morgan Street, tucked away passed a little roundabout off of Hillsborough Street. Situated between a funky and modern hair studio, Atomic Salon and the City Limits Saloon country bar, the café is an inviting restaurant with a casual feel that offers an array of dishes, from a sophisticated warm goat cheese salad, with walnuts and seared goat cheese, to more relaxed fare like a burger and fries.
When another intern and I visited Irregardless for lunch, we noticed many working people dining there on their lunch break. The restaurant is the perfect place to eat because it offers a different experience. It’s a place where those who work in downtown Raleigh can escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and where NC State students and faculty who are looking for a change can also walk to and enjoy.
Each lunch sandwich is served with a choice of seasoned fries, potato salad, tabouli salad, or fruit. We both ordered the warm goat cheese salad with chicken. The chicken was tender and the creamy shallot vinaigrette was yummy. It came topped with seasoned and seared goat cheese, giant walnuts, and craisins. The salad was delicious, fresh, and filling!
Even though we were amazingly full from our salads, we decided to try a dessert. Every day at Irregardless the dessert menu changes, so you know it’s fresh! We ordered the apple berry crisp, which was hot when it got to our table and was topped with cool vanilla ice cream.
Irregardless doesn’t just offer lunch either. Stop in for dinner and drinks and enjoy some live jazz music. On the weekends Irregardless offers an amazing brunch. You’ve been to IHOP for breakfast before…why not try Irregardless for an amazing brunch or lunch experience this weekend?
