Raleigh has several great festivals throughout the year and one of the very best is Artsplosure—a celebration of the creative art energy of our city. This year is no different as the streets in and around Moore Square are transformed into a art festival and outdoor art market that will feature all aspects of the creative arts.
This festival has grown over the years and this year features exhibits and demonstrations throughout Downtown—from Moore Square to City Plaza to the the original epicenter of the creative arts, Artspace, which offers studio space for rent or share to artists of all types.
Artsplosure 2012 has a wide array of offerings for the entire family:
- Kidsplosure – an interactive “hands on” area for kids (big and little) to partcipate in painting, drawing and other creative activities.
- The Impressionist Garden – a new edition that will feature 8 painted sculptures in the City Plaza – in a created “garden” setting.
- The ever popular Art Market – featuring the very best in art offerings from local, regional and national artists.
- Music in the Park – Artsplosure has had a reputation for bringing top local, regional and national acts to perform and this year is no different. Starting with a great Lounge Jazz Act: The Side Car Social Club and ending with one of the very best Urban Jazz-Funk bands in the world, The New Orleans Group Big Sam’s Funky Nation. The lineup this year is one of the best ever and is certainly not to be missed!
Plan on coming out on Saturday and Sunday to enjoy this great event. Event Times are 11am-10pm on Saturday and 10am-7pm on Sunday.
