This fall, I decided to start a bucket list for things in Southwest Raleigh. With a little help from Offline, a technology company in the Triangle powered by two guys named David, the experience has never been more social. The Bucket List includes experiences, signature and famous dishes from local restaurants, places to explore, and much more.
I found some things in SouthWest Raleigh that I’ve been meaning to do and added them to my list. In fact, I found a few things that I already did and was able to check them off the list. I’m sure you’ll find a few things that you’ve done, but more importantly a few things that you haven’t. And those things that you haven’t done probably range from the “I’ll get to it some day” to other things that you didn’t know about yet. Offline wants to change that.
So what’s on my fall bucket list? See for yourself. A few upcoming events that I plan on blogging about are right here in the Creative District:
Go to an NC State football game
As an NC State alumni, Wolfpack Club member, and football season ticket holder, I’m usually leading the cheering in section 210. “Move the chains, move the chains, wuf, wuf, wuf” after every first down. Syracuse is coming to town this weekend and the weather looks perfect for the 3:30 pm kickoff. Cheer on the Wolfpack with me and add to your bucket list.
Go to a Carolina Hurricanes game
Let’s go Canes! The excitement of the National Hockey League (NHL) is right here in Raleigh. And tickets are very affordable. I was on stubhub the other day and saw tickets for $15. Hell, you can even score tickets near the ice for $60-$75 is you really want to treat yourself. Add a Canes game to your bucket list.
Explore Lake Johnson Nature Park
One of Southwest Raleigh’s crown jewels, Lake Johnson draws people from all over the Triangle area to enjoy the outdoors. While I am often found running a lap around the lake for marathon training, I think it’s time to take the family out there and maybe check out a paddle boat to enjoy the breeze on the lake. See if you can find the waterfall after a rainy day. Add Lake Johnson to your bucket list.
Run the City of Oaks Marathon
Speaking of marathon training, I’m gearing up to run the City of Oaks half marathon and the Outer Banks half marathon. The City of Oaks was my first race back in 2007 and I’ve run it every year since then. This will be my seventh year running in the City of Oaks. Run it with me and add this to your bucket list.
Bike the greenway at the NC Art Museum
I can’t wait to pick a beautiful fall afternoon and peddle over to the NC Art Museum. From my house, I can almost exclusively take greenways to get to the art museum. Bike it with me and add this to your bucket list.
Enjoy drinks at Boylan Bridge and Crank Arm Brewing
Drinks with one of the best views of downtown Raleigh can be found at Boylan Bridge Brewpub. One of the many local breweries to check out. A new one on my list across the street from The Pit is Crank Arm Brewery. I can’t wait to blog about this one! Enjoy a pint with me, add Boylan Bridge and Crank Arm to your bucket list.
I have a few invitations to give out. Let me know if you are interested. Only those who are going to add things to the list and explore Raleigh should inquire.
