Carolina Pines Community Center is holding a hearing about future renovations, to include, but not limited to, fixing the HVAC units, adding community rooms, and your ideas. CAROLINA PINES COMMUNITY CENTER RENOVATION PUBLIC MEETING TO BE HELD MARCH 30 [2010]
The City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department will hold a public meeting 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 30 [2010] to receive public input on design options for renovations to Carolina Pines Community Center, 2305 Lake Wheeler Road
New City Design Group is in the process of assessing the community center structure. The architects and the City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department’s project manager will present several design options for the renovations.
Funding for the renovations and expansion of the community center come from the City’s Capital Improvement Program Budget (CIP) and the 2007 Parks and Greenway Bond Referendum approved by voters. The project improvements include renovation of the building’s main entrance, replacement of the tile flooring, expansion and reconfiguration of the large meeting room, and renovation of the HVAC system.
After the public meeting the project architects will meld citizen comments, staff experience, budget considerations, and the building’s existing structure to develop a final design. The final design will likely be presented at another public meeting in late May.
The 17,139 square feet Carolina Pines Community Center was opened in November 1972. It houses a gymnasium, kitchen, weight room, club room, large meeting room, restrooms, locker rooms, an office, and storage.
