The City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services Department will be offering compost bins for sale to the general public. The sale will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 7 at 4121 New Bern Avenue. The FreeGarden Earth Compost Bin will be $45. Also for sale will be Kitchen Collection Containers ($8), compost aerators ($15), and compost thermometers ($25).
The compost bin is user-friendly featuring a large 20.25-inch opening that provides easy access to add materials and manage the contents. The bin requires no assembly and is constructed to withstand bad weather. The compost bin has an 11-cubic-foot capacity and is 33-inches high and 31-inches wide.
Free compost sessions will be offered throughout the day. The bins will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Cash, check and credit cards will be accepted. Call 996-6890 for more information.
