Ready to learn martial arts at this year’s SPARKcon?
Bill Tracy and Josiah Brooks teach Wado-Ryu Karate, a traditional Japanese marital art. We each have nearly eleven years of experience in the discipline, and teach classes at Carolina Pines through the Raleigh Parks and Rec System.
We’ll be teaching a class at SPARKcon for danceSPARK on Saturday, September 14, 2013 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. We will show beginners the basic stance, movement, and strikes. Then, the instructors and their students will demonstrate more advanced movement, including Kata (a prearranged fight against multiple opponents) and Kumite (multiple-step prearranged attack/defense).
The class is for ages eight and up, but teens, adults and families are welcome! Those who want to participate will need to remove shoes and socks. Loose clothing is helpful.
Classes will take place at the Grand Ballroom atop the Capital Club located at 16 West Martin St. Time is 12:00 to 1:00pm Saturday September 14, 2013.
