Over 150 open source and technology enthusiasts are planning to attend BarCampRDU this weekend on NC State’s Centennial Campus. Participants are polishing up creative talks, presentations, sessions ideas, hardware demonstrations, and much more. I even saw a pitch for “The secrets of piracy.”
If you’ve never been to a BarCamp, its quite the experience. Not only can you learn something, but the format allows you to share something you’re passionate about as well. If the participates are interested of course.

How it works: BarCampRDU is an “unconference” which means there is not a rigid schedule until everyone arrives and pitches the topics they would like to present. Topics are recorded on paper and posted where everyone can see and vote. The most popular topics/speakers are placed at the beginning of the day. Note: This year we may plan to gradually shorten the times allotted for talks as the day progresses. Migration into lightning talks will keep things interesting toward the end of the day.
Many of the attendees and topics are technology and open source related, but do not have to be. BarCampRDU is an event that is driven by participants. You will likely find sessions on how to juggle or even play guitar. Most of all BarCampRDU is meant to be fun and focused on socializing with other folks who have similar interests.
