As a Boylan Heights resident and supporter of downtown nonprofits, I am happy to welcome the outstanding Haven House Services to my neighborhood as they settle into their new office space at 600 West Cabarrus Street. If you aren’t familiar with this great nonprofit, then it’s time you learn more about how they are making Raleigh a better city for all of us.
Haven House Services is a non-profit agency serving Wake County that helps struggling young people and their families develop positive and successful relationships at home, at school, and in the community.
Haven House Services provides a lifeline to stability and security for youth who have run away, find themselves homeless, or are experiencing a crisis. Counselors and emergency shelter are available 24/7 at their Wrenn House, or homeless youth can drop-in at the outreach center for meals, supplies, and other support.
Haven House also supports the community by reuniting adolescents with their families, teaching life skills to young adults, providing intensive therapy for families, gang prevention for vulnerable youth, keeping kids out of the court system, or helping with classroom catch-up for suspended students. The list of services is long and tireless and an amazing contribution to the downtown Raleigh area.
Come show your support of this great organization by popping by their open house event on March 22 from 4:30-7:30pm. The event marks the 30th anniversaries of Wrenn House and the outreach center, celebrates the official Safe Place Week, and, of course, the new office spaces at 600 West Cabarrus Street in Boylan Heights.
“The Haven House Services open house provides anyone who is interested with an opportunity to see an organization that is truly working to improve our community.” says Haven House Services Board Member Kim Keith, “I am constantly amazed and inspired by the stories of success that I hear at events like this one and I encourage others to come to this event to experience that same inspiration.”
Some of the fun event activities include an open house tour of the new office space, free Trolley Tours through historic Boylan Heights, and to visit the nearby Wrenn House, family games, music, and more. Klausie’s Pizza food truck will also be there dishing up some of their awesome pizzas. Everyone is welcome to attend: participants in the programs, donors and supporters, neighbors from the community, or people just curious about the organization. Hope to see you there!
