Raleigh is going through it’s next revolution with Innovate Raleigh 2.0, an initiative to make Raleigh NC, a hub for creative entrepreneurs.

After last year’s Innovation Summit, we saw some impressive strides towards this effort. Raleigh is getting nicely set-up to be a city for tech, startups, and entrepreneurship with companies such as Red Hat and ShareFile / Citrix moving their headquarters to downtown Raleigh, along with the success of entrepreneur incubators and co-working spaces such as Hub Raleigh.

Plans are already underway for this year’s initiatives. Here are highlights for upcoming plans in this city.

• The CED is releasing an interactive map of the Triangle NC’s entrepreneurs. Here is a sneak peak… http://www.cednc.org/?page=TriangleNetworkMap

• Dennis Kekas, executive director of the Networking Technology Institute at North Carolina State University spoke of upcoming plans for Hunt Library as a center for research and innovation at Centennial Campus, complete with a bookBot, a robotic book delivery system.

• Lisa Grele Barrie, president and CEO of the North Carolina Theatre, spoke of bringing Art into the picture with STEAM, Science + Technology + Engineering + Art + Math. – Now, that’s an integrative approach to innovation.

• Finally, the building that hosted last night’s presentation, 227 Fayetteville Street, could be an epicenter for entrepreneurs and innovation in downtown Raleigh, to match the tech and startup success of the American Underground in Durham, NC.

The future is underway for Raleigh and the Triangle, NC. There will be more news on how to get involved with this innovation.
