There are some interesting things about to happen along the Blue Ridge corridor that stretches from the State Fairgrounds and NC State Vet school, past the North Carolina Museum of Art to Rex Healthcare. It’s time to save the date for the official Blue Ridge Road District Study kick off on January 12, 2012, from 1:00- 4:00 pm, at the Raleigh Urban Design Center (133 Fayetteville Street, Downtown Raleigh).

The agenda will be finalized over the next few weeks, but the draft agenda includes the following elements:

  • Welcome
  • Introduction of the Urban Design Associates team
  • Urban Design Associates presents the project overview and timeline
  • Core stakeholder opening remarks (unconfirmed)
  • Next steps
  • Discussion

From the project page:

The Blue Ridge Road District Study is being undertaken to develop a blueprint for collaborative, integrated systematic planning and development along the corridor. Study goals are to: develop better connectivity to and through the corridor; leverage State and local policies and investments to support coordinated growth; and guide development in order to conserve natural systems and landscapes.
