The Carolina Pines Community Center renovations are really coming along! A quick visit out to the park proved to be a worthwhile time to capture the in-progress renovations. In an earlier design post, once the renovations are complete this community center will boast upgrades to the locker room, a new lobby, a new building-wide HVAC system, a new large meeting room, replacement of the kitchen, and new building access.
The new drop-off driveway is starting to take shape. In the front of the building, there will be a new circular access way for dropping off and picking up. There are a few handicapped spots in the front with most of the parking still off to the side. Most of the windows in the front of the building have also been installed with the exception of the new club room addition. The walls and floor have been constructed, but the front-facing side has yet to be installed.
A lot of the grading also seems to be mostly finished, allowing patrons to imagine how the finished landscape will look. The gentle sloping hills and mature pines will be a nice backdrop to the new plants and trees that will be installed.
Even though the community center is unusable at this time, the park has plenty of other features to explore. The playgrounds are located at the front of the park, but be sure to also check out the baseball fields, sand volleyball courts, and off-leash dog park at the back of this park.
Thumbs up: renovations seem to be on schedule as noted on City of Raleigh’s Parks & Rec website
Thumbs down: nothing to report
