Looking for a community center in the Southwest Raleigh area that has after school programs, ESL, teen programs, or a monthly toddler book club? Come out to Peach Road Park & Community Center to enjoy these great programs and more!
Peach Road Park is located southwest of downtown Raleigh at 911 Ileagnes Rd. From South Saunders Street, turn onto Ileagnes Rd and keep driving past all the homes and apartments until you come to the park at the very end of the road. You won’t think you’re going the right way, but you are.
This park has outdoor amenities for all ages, but unfortunately they’ve seen better days. The large playground area has tot swings, regular swings, some diggers, and a jungle gym with slides. The playground area has a sandy surface and is surrounded by a conveniently paved sidewalk. I’m anxious to come back in the spring when the trees along the playground’s perimeter are full of leaves. Not far from the playground is the handball court, two outdoor basketball courts, and large multi-purpose field.
The community center does not open until 2pm during the week, but is full of several activities in the afternoons, evenings, and on Saturdays. Here’s a list of some upcoming programs available at the community center:
- Now through Dec 21: Community After School Program (3-6pm, 5-12yrs, FREE)
- Jan 12 – May 3, 2012: Teen Scene (Thurs, 6:30-8pm, 12-17yrs, FREE)
