udo1-300x200 by Raleigh Public RecordThe public comment period is open. But have you taken a look? We only have a few weeks to review the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) which is shaping up to be the new zoning laws for Raleigh. What will your neighborhood look like? How will businesses and industries transition to residential areas? Where is the density going to be? Can McMansions be built next to your house?

Raleigh Public Record is featuring their review of the UDO. As of this post, they have 9 days of review to help you digest the 300+ page document:

The City of Raleigh is also hosting three workshops this week to help you understand the draft and how to participate via comments and feedback:

The City invites you to participate in the first phase of the public comment period for the “Public Review Draft of the Unified Development Ordinance”.  [large pdf] The draft code will be available for comment now through June 6, 2011.

The goal of the New Code is to prepare development regulations that address contemporary development and zoning practices and are easily understood by administrators, the public, and the development community. The New Code will support goals and policies expressed in the 2030 Comprehensive Plan and implement related action items.

Offical written comments may be entered through the options noted below.

Additional Resources can be found on the Raleigh website New Development Code.
