If the winter weather we’ve had over the past few weeks is any indication of how cold Lake Raleigh will be in late February for the annual Polar Plunge, then participants taking a dip in the lake to raise money for Special Olympics are in for a burst of icy coldness.

NCSU 5k run and Polar Plunge

The 3rd annual North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics is scheduled for Saturday, February, 26, 2011 at 9:00 am. If running or walking the 5k Torch Run isn’t your thing, perhaps you’d like to take a quick dip in Lake Raleigh at 11:00 am?

The run will take place on a USATF certified course on NC State University’s Centennial Campus, Saturday, February 26.

Registration starts at 7:30 am and the 5k Run/walk will kick off at 9 am. There is also a Kids’ Dash (ages 5 – 10) at 10 am.

Each 5k participant will receive an event T-shirt and an invitation to the post-race festival.

The race is the third race in the 2011 Second Empire Spring Series. Join even more fun and Plunge into the wintry waters of Lake Raleigh at 11 a.m right after the run.
