rebusworks-logoHopscotch weekend at Rebus Works is going to be an overdose of see-able, hear-able, and edible art. We start off with Shopscotch, which is two days of shopping and music, as part of the official Hopscotch Day Party on Friday and Saturday from noon-5pm. This outside event is filled with some of the hippest artists and crafters in the area, with over 30 vendors showcasing their goods, so there is surely something for everyone.

There are also going to be four food trucks on Friday: Captain Poncho’s Tacos, Pie Pushers, Chick-N-Que, and Baton Rouge Cuisine.

Saturday’s trucks are:  Humble Pig, King Creole, and Monster Cookies.

We are also excited to introduce Raleigh Raw cold press juice, who will be there both days.

FRIDAY BANDS

  • IWTDI (I Was Totally Destroying It)
  • The Invisible Hand
  • Wesley Wolfe

SATURDAY BANDS

  • The Countdown Quartet
  • Goner
  • The Bleeding Hearts
  • The Tender Fruit

Rebus Works will open a photography exhibition of Mitchell Kearney’s punk images from his early days in New York. Filmmaker and fellow photographer Jack Dillard stated this about Mitchell’s work, “It’s a gift nourished by innate curiosity and honed by experience and training. He sees what is there and something more:  the intangible spirit of the thing. More than a good likeness of a subject, Mitchell elicits an image that resonates much like a sustained musical tone of a double bassoon or cello.” We will have his work on display from September 6 through November 2 on the main gallery wall of Rebus Works.

Posterscotch will also have a presentation at Rebus Works, as the director of the project Skillet Gilmore will have a display of Hopscotch poster from a list of reputable silkscreen artists. The posters will be on display and for sale both days of Shopscotch from noon-5pm.

We will be winding down the weekend with a Sunday Brunch with Legs McNeil, co-author of “Please Kill Me.”  There will also be a performance by the venerable Dexter Romweber and food by Sarge’s Chef on Wheels (shrimp and grits please) on Sunday, September 8 from 11-2pm.
