Guest post by Ellen Hammond
Every day, thousands of impoverished and homeless children attend Wake County, NC schools wearing clothes that are worn or ill-fitting. Unfortunately, socks and even underwear are often a luxury. So, why not enjoy a great day with the family Mother’s Day weekend while helping Note in the Pocket clothe these children with dignity and love?
Join us Saturday, May 10, 2014 for the Socks & Undie 5K Rundie or half-mile Family Fun Run at the Dorothea Dix Campus in Raleigh.
Don your silliest socks and wackiest boxers for the run, and don’t forget to bring a package of new children’s socks or underwear for the donation bin. For more information, to register, or to volunteer for the race, visit www.noteinthepocket.org.

About Note in the Pocket
Proceeds from the run benefit Note in the Pocket (NITP). Founded in 2005, NITP provides clothing to impoverished and homeless children and their families throughout Wake County. Through its partnership with schools, agencies, individuals, businesses, and foundations, NITP works to clothe children with dignity and love.
When a clothing referral is received at NITP, a group of volunteers carefully selects a week’s worth of clothes from its inventory that are coordinated to accommodate two weeks of outfits. NITP provided clothing to 1,556 children in 2013, and that number is expected to double in the next 18 months. For more information about NITP, visit: www.noteinthepocket.org.
