As most of you know Wake County Schools has been working on multiple plans for changing the school system and where the children in your neighborhood would go to school. They are asking people to “test-drive” the updated or blue plan on their website to get feedback on this potential change.
This is very important for our neighborhoods because better schools will attract more people and increase the value of our homes.
Take a minute and look at the plan and give Wake County Public Schools your feedback. Also, feel free to comment on this post and let us know what you think about the options and what you think would be best for South West Raleigh. And no—you don’t need a child in the school system to express an opinion and/or share feedback on the Test Drive.
The Blue Course of Action is a community-based choice model with access to a full set of magnet schools. This course of action is similar to the current WCPSS plan in that parents have traditional, year round, and magnet options. This plan slightly changes the definition of “base schools” from how we currently provide two schools (year round and traditional) in a parent’s base to a broader list of 4-6 schools that provide the plan elasticity to accommodate for growth. The plan also includes a guarantee of at least one “achievement choice” school for all students.
