Rebus WorksIt’s a hit with the neighborhood and everyone who attends. What is it? The Saturday Market. Here is what’s happening this weekend at Rebus Works:

Rebus Works gallery, located in historical Boylan Heights, downtown Raleigh, began The Saturday Market at Rebus Works in April.  The market will continue weekly through November 19, 2011.  The idea is to combine farmers, crafters, and food and beverage trucks in one location.  Although the idea is not new, it is new to Raleigh.  The Saturday Market offers a unique setting where vendors are set up along a meandering path, past the chicken coop and gardens, right in the heart of downtown Raleigh.

Being passionate about the idea, the Market has grown weekly, supported by the local neighborhoods and community.  Everything at the Market is locally produced, with a focus on being kid friendly, and community oriented.  To that end, live examples of chickens, gardens and small local farms provide simple lessons to the children about where food comes from, the kid’s craft area provides activities for the children while parents shop.   The Market also offers donation based community yoga as a way to bring the community together.  The Saturday Market focuses on being community oriented in order to make their own, and everyone else’s surroundings better.

This week will feature local farmers, meat and seafood vendors, baked goods, local cheese and honey, music, craft vendors, a kids craft area, donation based yoga, and chair massage for great one-stop shopping.  For a complete listing of this week’s vendors and events, please go to our website:  www.thesaturdaymarket.us Vendor updates are posted weekly on Thursday.

New craft vendors this week include:

  • Cathy Spargo Jewelry
  • Bijou Saavy-vintage jewelry and found objects

The Saturday Market is located at 301-2 Kinsey Street, Raleigh, NC and is open every Saturday from 9-2pm and will continue through November 19.
