The Saturday MarketLast year before starting The Saturday Market I read an article in The New Yorker about the rapid grow of small farmers’ markets and the impact it has of the small farmer. The dynamic has switched from one big market where the farmer would take their goods to a bunch of small farmers’ markets. It’s convenient to the consumers but it’s costly and time consuming for the farmer who must drive more, hire a staff to man the booth and hopefully choose a market that is profitable. With more then 30 markets in our area it’s understandably a difficult choice. The LoMo Market team might have the solution.

LoMo Market describes themselves as: a team of farm luvin’ folks who want to connect customers with farm fresh foods. If people who value high quality, local foods don’t have time to seek them out, let’s bring the food to them! We have created a new retail experience where the market is on wheels. You can walk through our market to pick and choose your favorite goodies. For those of us old enough to remember the “Book Mobile,” think of us as “local food” mobile.

We are proud to introduce the LoMo Market at The Saturday Market this weekend. Here is a small list of producers:

The Saturday Market

Rebus Works gallery, located next to the Boylan Street Bridge, downtown Raleigh, began The Saturday Market at Rebus Works in April.  The market continues weekly through November.  The idea is to combine farmers, crafters, and food and beverage trucks in one location.  Although the idea is not new, it is new to Raleigh.  The Saturday Market offers a unique setting where vendors are set up along a meandering path, past the chicken coop and gardens, right in the heart of downtown Raleigh.

The Saturday Market is located at 301-2 Kinsey Street, (next to the Boylan Street Bridge) Raleigh, NC and is open every Saturday from 9-2pm and will continue through November 17.
