The Creative District has a new craft brewery. Trophy Brewing Company, located at 827 W. Morgan Street between NC State and Downtown Raleigh, is Raleigh’s newest and most exciting craft brewery. That brings Raleigh’s total to eight breweries and a grand total of 20 breweries in the Triangle.
“The robust brewery scene we have in Raleigh is awesome!” said James Sauls, Director Raleigh Economic Development. “They are helping us to create the creative, energetic vibe that our current citizens and future talent seeking to relocate to Raleigh is looking for.”
Owners Chris Powers and David Lockwood opened Trophy to the public on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Powers and Lockwood are the restaurateurs behind the successful bar and restaurant The Busy Bee on Wilmington Street.
“Trophy is all about excelling for greatness in the beers we love to drink,” said Powers. “We chose the name as a reminder that we always need to try a little harder, go the extra mile so our customers leave the brewery as if it was their first time even tasting a beer.”
The brewery has been busy churning out beers they have dreamed about and plans to sell it not only in house at the handmade, oak barrel bar, but also by way of a revolutionary “bottom filling growler filler” that will allow customers to purchase “beer to go” or to share with friends. Fun fact: Trophy is located at former Burger Hut on West Morgan Street.
The brewery has plans to serve bar food and pizza and open an outdoor patio in the spring.
I got a chance to check out Trophy on Wednesday evening and sample a few of their creations. Delicious! Take a look at Trophy Brewing and visit them soon.
