At your Hillsborough Citizens Advisory Council meeting next Thursday, March 15 (7:00 pm, Pullen Arts Center), updates will be provided on quite a number of nearby development projects and initiatives, including:
- FMW Phase I (between Park, Hillsborough, and West Morgan)
- A petition about to be filed with the City to rezone Garry Hoover’s 0.46 acre and Arthur Gordon’s 0.12 acre from Ind-2 to Ind-2 CUD with a Pedestrian Business Overlay District. They anticipate that a Rezoning Petition will be filed on or before March 16, 2012, and that the joint public hearing will be held July 17. The Hillsborough CAC will hold a special meeting on April 19 to hear the rezoning request from the applicants.
- 401 Oberlin (NW corner of Oberlin and Clark)
- Crescent (NE corner of Oberlin and Clark)
- Chick-fil-A (Opened March 1 in CVSC)
- The funeral home project on St. Mary’s
- Project on church property across from Armadillo Grill (Glenwood South)
- 425 Boylan project (Boylan and Tucker) – Update from Southern Land Company representative, Jim Schaafsma. Tim Downey, CEO of Southern Land Company (developers) and/or his son Dustin will likely come to the April 19 meeting for a longer update.
- Cameron Village Shopping Center present and future plans and issues (Rite-Aid lease; Foster’s Restaurant space leased to Harris-Teeter, etc.)
- NCSU hotel plans for Hillsborough Street location across from the bell tower
- Hillsborough Street corridor update (Oberlin to West Morgan) re sidewalks, bike lanes, vehicle lanes – Jeff Murison will provide update
- Hillsborough Street corridor update (Oberlin to Faircloth/Gorman) re development potential and long term plans – Jeff Murison will provide update
In addition Jason Hibbets will brief us on the recent Triangle Wiki Day: what it is, and how to get involved, including a wiki event at the DDNA meeting on Saturday, March 17.
If time permits, there will be news of traffic calming strategies under development for both Cameron Village and Cameron Park. If time does not permit, this will be an April 19 topic of discussion.
