Come have a blast volunteering at the 8th annual SPARKcon! This free, four-day festival (produced by Visual Art Exchange) showcases and celebrates creativity in the Triangle. You name it, we’ve got it: a fashion show; circus, dance and theater performances; live music; streetpainting; and much more!

SPARKcon is run almost entirely by volunteers, and we would love to have you be a part of it! Here’s a list of the events we need help with:

Set-up Volunteers:

  • What? Help lay out the street for the street painters! Volunteers should be comfortable with physically demanding tasks such as kneeling on asphalt and bending over.
  • When? Friday, September 13, 9am-12pm.

Artist Registration:

  • What? Check in all street painters, including students and adults!
  • When? Friday, September 13, 2-6pm; Saturday, September 14, 7:30-11:30am, 11:30am-2:30pm, 2:30-5:30pm.

Info Booth:

  • What? Help direct festival-goers to various events and answer questions!
  • When? Friday-Sunday, September 13-15.

Photographers:

  • What? Love taking photographs? Help us by taking photographs of various events at SPARKcon!
  • When? Saturday & Sunday, September 14 & 15.

kidSPARK:

  • What? Assist with various art activities for kids! Volunteers must love hands-on activities.
  • When? Saturday & Sunday, September 14 & 15.

Clean-Up/Break-down:

  • What? Don’t mind getting a little messy? Then come out to help us clean up after the event. Volunteers should be comfortable with physically demanding tasks.
  • When? Sunday, September 15, 4-7pm, 7-9pm.

4 Days, 200 events, 2000 artists

SPARKcon showcases the creativity, talent and ideas of “The Creative Hub of the South,” the Triangle of NC. Thousands of visitors flock to this free four-day event to watch and participate in a huge array of creative events ranging from circus performances to visual art, music, dance and so much more. SPARKcon defies description and must be experienced to be believed.

SPARKcon is a program of Visual Art Exchange, a Raleigh non-profit whose mission is to support emerging artists and connect the community to the arts.

To best match your interests, talents, and availabilities with our volunteering needs, we developed a short, simple google survey. Please fill out and submit the survey. SPARKcon’s volunteer coordinator will be in touch prior to the event to tell you about scheduling and any training events!
