cat_busThe City of Raleigh is seeking your input on how to improve bus transit service. Believe it or not, buses are a critical part of the existing public transportation system. I recently experienced this on a 5-day trip to San Francisco, CA where I used public transportation the entire time. I used a combination of the BART, the Muni (bus), and I only took a cab once. The bus network was robust, easy to use, and took us everywhere, including the Golden Gate Bridge.

The City of Raleigh’s Three-Year Bus Service Plan provides an opportunity to improve transit service now, while plans for future bus and rail service are being developed. You have a chance to comment on new routes, as well as improvements to existing routes, facilities, shelters, buses, and surrounding streetscapes.

A series of public workshops will be held in early June for you to voice your comments and ask questions (see schedule below). Some sessions have already been held. You can also comment through an online survey.

A Capital Area Bus Transit Development Plan website is currently under development, and will soon provide additional project information and materials.
