This is it, your chance to change Raleigh. You’ve got an idea you’ve been thinking about that could make the city better. Maybe you’ve told someone or maybe it’s only been a thought in your mind. Have you acted on your idea? Wanna do something about it with other folks who want to improve our city?
Join me on June 1-3 for CityCamp Raleigh 2012. In fact, if you can’t commit to the entire program, be sure to come on Friday afternoon to see what this is all about. Or, just come by when you can. We gather citizens, developers, and city staff to figure out ways to improve our quality of life through technology. We hear from experts and people doing cool things with open source right here in Raleigh.
Go ahead and register so we know you’re coming. Bonus: the first 150 attendees get a CityCamp t-shirt.
Since last years camp, the City of Raleigh has made a lot of progress. I’ll be talking on Friday about “The Path to the Open Source City” where I’ll share some of the milestones we’ve accomplished along the way.
Here are some ways that you can help out and get started:
- Submit your ideas for “unconference” sessions. Don’t have an idea? What city related services could be improved? Share your “It would nice if someone could come up with a better way to _________.”
- Share the event with your friends, co-workers, neighbors.
- You or someone you know could sponsor.
- Make a fun video about why you think CityCamp is valuable for Raleigh. Post it to our Facebook page.
Your participation is key to keeping the CityCamp and open government momentum going. So join us this year, and help spread the word. And while you’re letting it all sync in, enjoy these videos that explain what we’re doing:
